Description
Short Song Description:
This is a tribute to those early Motown tunes. I tried to catch the "Wall of Sound" mix.
Long Song Description:
I was trying to grab Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" I double-tracked the drums and bass and added lots of reverb. I put in a lot of instruments to give it a very busy palate. The vocals were double-tracked with momentary delay on #2. The backups have added harmony tracks and I tried to get the backup lyrics to follow the lead. I wanted a very dense sound. Take a listen and enjoy.
Story Behind the Song:
I heard about the passing of Ronnie Spector and felt I wanted to write something in honor of her sound. Not being an uber-talented young black woman, I had to adjust my lyrics to fit. I tried to grab the teenage angst that was so prevalent in those tunes. Enjoy.

I Should Have Said Something
© JD Carroll/ Creative Ventures Music, Inc.

I saw you walking down my street
The prettiest girl I would ever meet
as you were walking by
I happened to catch your eye

I should have said something
I should have said hi
I should have said something oh my

I couldn't wait to see you again
I had my whole conversation planned
As you came walking by
I tried to speak but my throat went dry
I should have said something
but I could barely smile
I should have said something oh my.

Now there are times when we all get tongue-tied
And my heart was racing so fast
I tried to think of a snappy comeback
Something smooth and relaxed
But the seconds ticked on for hours
This would surely be my end
Then I looked up and was overpowered.
by a smile from my girlfriend.

I see you walking down my street
The prettiest girl I will ever meet
as you are walking by
I catch your eye.

I'm going to say something
Somethings on my mind
I'm going to say something this time
Yes, I'm going to say something this time.
